Don has served as Minister of Music at First Baptist Church in Franklin, KY, since 1973. He also is a pianist, organist, and a composer-arranger. In addition, he also plays the accordion!!! His educational training includes a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Campbellsville University, Campbellsville, KY, and a Master's Degree in music education from Western KY University, Bowling Green, KY.

Don has over 375 titles published with twelve publishers, including scores of songs for preschoolers and children, many choir anthems, an adult Christmas musical, a youth musical, three children's Christmas musicals, and over twenty keyboard collections. In addition to writing and arranging, he has presented piano concerts and led keyboard workshops and clinics in several states and has served on the keyboard faculty at state and national church music conferences.

In 1994, he opened the Back Porch Studio in his home for music writing, arranging, sequencing, and recording. He also produces personal and contract recordings and accompaniment tracks.

His family includes his wife, Janis, who is Church Pianist; two sons: Jonathan and Mark; Jonathan's wife, Amy and their children, Matthew and Mollie; and Mark's wife, Parker. Mark and Parker are serving as missionaries in Ayorou, a remote village in the West African country of Niger.
