Back Porch Studio
- This is the website of Don Phiillips, our
minister of music. While much of the website is about his home studio, there are other sections, such as the three-volume set of quotes about music, worship, the Christian life and “Ponderings from the Porch” that would be of general interest. There are additional links to various sites and also a “Just for Fun” section. Don invites you to pull up a “virtual rocking chair” and spend some time at his Back Porch.
Missionaries with local connections
Mark and Parker Phillips -
Where the paved road ends . . . ramblings about life from the edge of the desert.
Mark Phillips [thephillips@pobox.com] grew up in First Baptist Church and was very active in youth and music groups. After graduation from high school, Mark went to Campbellsville University, where he met his wife, Parker. He served as Youth Ministry Intern at Living Hope Baptist Church in Bowling Green in the summer of 2000 and stayed on staff, eventually becoming the Senior High Pastor. He and Parker both had felt called to serve on the mission field since childhood. They followed that calling and were appointed by the
International Mission Board to serve as missionaries in Ayorou, Niger in the fall of 2006. They are in a remote, primitive village where they only have electricity eight hours a day. Mark and Parker have an ongoing blog that chronicles their recent experiences through photos and stories. They also have a one-page monthly email newsletter, From a Place by the River, that briefly summarizes the things that have happened that month. If you would like to receive this newsletter, please contact Parker at thephillips@pobox.com.
Stan, Wendy and Ariana Meador
Stan was the Minister of Education and Administration in our church before entering the mission field. They now serve as career missionaries with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention in Novo Hamburgo, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.. "We count it a blessing to serve God in this capacity. We are a part of a team which includes two IMB couples as well as several Brazilians that targets a people group of German descent. We work among this population segment planting house churches. Our vision is to see a church planting movement in the heart language (Hunsriker) of German descendants living in Brazil."
